GENERAL RULES
- Any of the following rules that are not followed will be grounds for immediate expulsion from the shooting range.
- If you have consumed alcohol within eight hours or under the influence of prescribed or illegal narcotics, you will not be allowed to shoot at the pistol pits or sporting clay course.
- Ear and Eye protection must be worn at all times when on the sporting clay course, 5-stand or the shooting ranges.
- Irresponsible behavior of any manor will result in revocation of membership, current and future and fines.
- NO firearms or shotguns allowed in the office. Please keep them in your car when checking in.
- All customers must check-in, fill out a wavier and receive a safety brief before they can go to the shooting ranges or clay courses.
- All persons must remain on designated paths. No variation is allowed.
- No Shots at anything other than designated targets.
- Do not alter the course(s) in any manner.
- Littering will not be TOLERATED.
- Alert Drake Landing staff immediately of any safety hazards.
SAFETY RULES FOR ALL RANGES AT DRAKE LANDING
- Any of the following rules that are not followed will be grounds for immediate expulsion from the shooting range.
- Treat every firearm as if it were loaded even after you have determined it is unloaded.
- Never point the firearm at anything you do not intend to shoot.
- Keep your finger straight and off of the trigger until you are on your target ready to fire.
- If your firearm has a safety, keep the safety engaged until you are ready to fire.
- Know your target and always consider its background.
- All personnel on the course must wear protective shooting glasses and ear protection at all times.
VEHICLES
- Any of the following rules that are not followed will be grounds for immediate expulsion.
- Vehicles may be operated in designated areas only. They may not be driven, including but not limited too, off the paths, in front of stations, or in the fields.
- Operators assume full responsibility for damage or injury to themselves, their passengers and third party personal or property that may occur while operating a vehicle.
- Drivers are required to operate the vehicle in a safe and sportsmanlike manner, following the rules of operation. Failure to do so may result in fines and/or revocation of membership.
- Do not over load vehicles.
- No 4-wheelers allowed.
SPORTING CLAY COURSES
- All persons on the course must wear protective shooting glasses and ear protection at all times.
- Any of the following rules that are not followed will be grounds for immediate expulsion from the shooting range.
- No handguns are allowed on the sporting clay courses.
- No Alcohol - before or during shooting.
- All Shooters will receive a Range Safety Brief.
- The ONLY time a gun is to be loaded is while in a shooting station and the muzzle must be forward of the shooting platform.
- When not shooting, the guns action must be open.
- At NO time will a shooter load more than two shells in a shotgun.
- The only shot size permitted is # 7 1/2, 8 & 9.
- Practice swings behind any station are prohibited.
- While waiting your turn be certain that you are safely behind the shooter and clear of his/her field of vision.
- At no time is a shooter to attempt to repair a machine. Shoot the remaining targets from the other machine and report the issue to the staff by calling 919-552-9455 or inform the office staff at the completion of the round.
- Park the golf carts as far left or right of the cart path so the staff can get by you if needed.
5-STAND
- If you have consumed alcohol within eight hours or under the influence of prescribed or illegal narcotics, you will not be allowed on the ranges.
- No handguns are allowed at the 5-stand.
- Any of the following rules that are not followed will be grounds for immediate expulsion from the shooting range.
- Hearing and eye protection must be worn by all personnel at the 5 stand.
- All Shooters will receive a Safety Range Brief.
- The action of the shotgun must be open and empty at all times until inside the shooting station.
- Shooters may not leave their station until instructed to do so by the range safety officer.
- The shooter may only load the gun while in the shooting station.
- The barrel must be forward of the shooting platform.
- No more than two shells can be loaded at any time.
Pistol Pits
- Any of the following rules that are not followed will be grounds for immediate expulsion from the shooting range.
- No Alcohol – before or during shooting.
- All Shooters shall receive a Range Safety Brief prior to shooting their handgun.
- When the Red Flag is displayed all ranges are HOT.
- No Handguns shall be removed from their cases or holsters until instructed by the Range Safety Officer.
- Any time you shoot at a steel target, there is always potential for splash back from the projectile.
- Once the handguns are pulled out, they all must be benched on the ready bench with the actions open and the muzzle pointed down range.
- Once the handgun is loaded, the muzzle must be pointed down range at all times. If there is a malfunction, the muzzle must stay pointed down range, while the handgun is begin cleared.
- If for some reason you hear the command cease fire, you must clear your firearm and place it on the ready bench with the action open and the muzzle pointed down range. You must move back to the picnic table, do not touch the firearm until cleared by the Range Safety Officer.
- There is no Rapid fire Permitted at the Range.
- At no time can anyone go forward of the shooting line without the permission of the Range Safety Officer.
50-Yard Range
- THE 50-YARD RANGE IS ONLY OPEN ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.
- Any of the following rules that are not followed will be grounds for immediate expulsion from the shooting range.
- No Alcohol – before or during shooting.
- All Shooters will receive a Range Safety Brief.
- Only .22 rimfire LR "rifles" may be fired on the 50-yard range. There are two shooting platforms for .22 rifles.
- When the Red Flag is displayed all ranges are HOT.
- No Handguns shall be removed from their cases or holsters until instructed by the Range Safety Officer.
- Once the handguns are pulled out, they all must be benched on the ready bench with the actions open and the muzzle pointed down range.
- Once the handgun is loaded, the muzzle must be pointed down range at all times. If there is a malfunction, the muzzle must stay pointed down range, while the handgun is being cleared by the Range Safety Officer.
- Anytime the Range is cold, all personnel must stay behind the red ready line and must not touch any of the firearms until the the Range Safety Officer says hot again.
- There is no Rapid fire Permitted at the 50-Yard Range.
- At no time can anyone go forward of the shooting line without the permission of the Range Safety Officer.
Hunting
- Any of the following rules that are not followed will be grounds for immediate expulsion.
- No one will be allowed to hunt if alcohol has been consumed eight hours prior to your scheduled hunt, to include prescribed or illegal narcotics.
- Blaze orange will be required as outlined by North Carolina state law mandates.
- Any dog shot by a hunter will cost the hunter a minimum of $7,500.00 plus vet bills.
- If any Drake Landing personnel feels that their lives, the customer lives or the dogs lives are in danger, the hunt will immediately end and no refunds will be given.
- All persons in the field must wear protective shooting glasses and ear protection at all times.
